History
Founded in 1993 by Luciano da F. Costa, the Cybernetic Vision Research Group (CVRG) at the University of São Paulo has been acting in the interface between computer vision and a series of related areas, especially biological vision and computational neuroscience, but also including mathematics, physics, psychology, and philosophy. During this period, the CVRG has consolidated itself as the only group in its area in Brazil and very likely in Latin America. Perhaps the main reason underlying the success of the CVRG has been the adoption, since its very beginning, of the following four principal organizing objectives:
- to conduct original and relevant inter- and multidisciplinary research on the interface between computer and biological vision.
- to integrate basic and applied research.
- to foster broad collaboration between students and researchers.
- total commitment.
